Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I purchase a Pre-Owned Rolex from chronotown?

Like many upscale items, a new Rolex watch will depreciate in value immediately after it is purchased. By purchasing a pre-owned Rolex, you can avoid this initial depreciation after their initial purchase.

Are you a registered Rolex dealer and how do I know you are reputable?

Chronotown is not an official dealer of Rolex. Being that we are not authorized dealers, we are not bound by any price restraints. This allows us the freedom to give you a significant discount. Also, you can enjoy our 1-Year warranty, which is considerably longer than an authorized dealership. You can rest assured that we are reputable because we are currently a member of The International Watch and Jewelry Guild, The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.

Where do you get your watches from?

We get all of our watches through individuals, collectors and a network of dealers that we have established over many years. We would not be able to supply you with a steady source without this network. When you call or e-mail us inquiring about a watch, occasionally we will have to check with our network about availability. Many customer requests have been for rare items, and for this reason, we kindly request your patience. We only deal with reputable people, and we want to assure you that you are receiving the highest quality.

What is the condition of the pre-owned watches you sell?

Almost all of the watches we sell are in first-rate condition. Our definition of first-rate condition consists of the following: The case, band, bezel, and crystal must not have any visible scratches. The crystal and bezel may be replaced with new non-Rolex items if need be. In reference to the band, you may notice some stretch between the links if compared to a brand new watch, however, it will be very minor. All our watches are thoroughly inspected, cleaned, professionally polished, maintained, and should offer you many years of service. We do improve and change crystals, worn links, hands, and dials as needed.

Is it standard practice to make customizations to a Rolex timepiece?

Yes, customizing Rolex timepieces is standard practice. We can normally change the face with a different genuine rolex dial if requested. Diamonds and precious stones are added domestically. Typically, these are done so well that it is very hard to tell that Rolex itself did not set them. Also because of this, we can offer you the look you want at a fraction of the cost. We also offer original Rolex set dials and bezels as well. If you have any questions about how we set our timepieces, please do not hesitate to contact us by clicking here.

What is your return policy?

If once you receive your merchandise and you don’t like it for any reason, we can exchange it for you or you may return it. There is no restocking fee. Please refer to our returns section on the website for more information.

How long will it take for me to receive the watch?

Before we ship out a watch, we will place it thru precision testing , such as water pressure and other winding tests. Once quality testing completes, we ship out via UPS and FedEx Priority Shipping immediately.

Are those real diamonds?

All diamonds are custom added by a 3rd party and are not set by Rolex. Diamond accessories from Rolex are very expensive, and we would rather pass those savings on to you.. For example, a diamond bezel can cost around $5,000.00 alone, and a diamond dial about $2,000.00 alone. This watch can cost around $7,000.00 more set by Rolex. We don’t want you to pay more, when you can get the same high-quality diamonds available for half the price.

Will rolex service a watch with aftermarket diamond accessories?

Some Authorized Rolex dealers do and some do not. Some do accept watches with diamond bezels and not with diamond dials; you should contact your local watch master and ask about their policies. Any master watchmaker will be happy to service your watch for you; it’s far less expensive than sending it to Rolex, and can offer comparable services.

What is the difference between the Rolex Date and Datejust models?

The difference is very small. The case of the Date model is 34mm, which is 2mm smaller than the case of the Datejust at 36mm. Also, the DateJust model is available with the Jubilee or Oyster bracelet, while the Date is only available with the Oyster bracelet.

What does "Quick Set" refer to?

There are a few classifications of Quick Sets, listed as the following:

  1. Quick Set: The “Quick Set” feature allows you to advance the Date without changing the time (hour hands).
  2. Non-Quick Set: For “Non-Quick Set” models, you must rotate the hour hands to change the Date on the calendar.
  3. Double-Quick Set: The “Double-Quick Set” feature allows you to change the Day and Date without moving the other hands.
  4. Single-Quick Set: The “Single-Quick Set” feature allows you to change Date without moving the hour hands but the Day must be changed by rotating the hour hands.

What do you mean by saying the watches have "Sapphire Crystals?

We mean that newer Rolex watches have a glass-like “Sapphire” crystal. Older Rolex models have a hard plastic “Acrylic” crystal.

What languages are available on the "day wheel" of the Day-Date "President"?

The “day wheel” on the Day-Date is available in the following 26 languages: English, German, Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Spanish, Basque, Catalan, Ethiopian, Finnish, French, Greek, Hebrew, Dutch, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Moroccan, Norwegian, Farsi, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Turkish.

Do you ship your watches outside of the united states?

Yes, we do! If we accept an order from you with a non-US based address, we will contact you to inform you of any additional costs for shipping and handling, if necessary.

Do i have to pay taxes on my order?

Chronotown does not charge sales tax on purchases outside the state of Georgia. However, the state of Georgia requires that all in-state purchases be charged sales tax. Each state has different Sales and Use tax payment requirements for on-line purchases.
